In some ways a departure, in other ways...not. I'm still fascinated...caught up really...in the process of trying to marry the styles of ambient, jazz, and fourth world.

This album was inspired by two weeks spent traveling the length of the Oregon Coast. It's a place I spent many days growing up. It's a place I come back to when I need to heal and re-group. Along the North Coast, the mornings are often soothing, gray, and misty as clouds butt up against the Coastal Range. The Mid-Coast is vibrant, with fishing vessels of all sizes coming and going, whale watching and the windy, rocky capes jutting into the Pacific waves. Along the South Coast, one could almost forget that they're in the Pacific Northwest. Warm days, breezy evenings, and long flat bluffs that look out over intricate rock formations. Nevertheless, the Northwest is not far off as the Southern Oregon rainforests and the unpredictable Siskiyous lie just a few miles inland.

Amazing to hear Jorge and Steve together once more! Did not think I would have that privilege again in this life. Lovely warm, cyclic, organic tribal ambience. Feels very tied to the Southwest to me--I can almost see the shadows dancing across the canyon walls, and feel the rhythmic flutes and dancers' feet echoing from the kiva walls. Dave Aftandilian
